April Snow
The April snow brought the return of the four crows, always together and fearless. They crossed the field at first light. One landed on the old oak stump, the others dropping to the snow-covered ground. They called to each other, then began their slow patrol of the yard, walking with that deliberate, confident stride. Winter could linger, snow could return out of season, but the field was theirs again.
