A Full Crop

I walked about three miles through the wooded area called the Ramble, where one may observe the movements of birds with some ease in the depth of winter. The weather was cold, the temperature near twenty-five degrees.
I came upon a hawk perched on a branch, its crop full, which accounted for its unusual appearance: a successful hunt. It showed no interest in the movements around it and no fear of people.
