The Night Heron No.3

Black and White Photograph of Night Heron Series by Robert David Atkinson.

"I happened upon a young night Heron that had spent the night stalking the shallow waters. With sharp eyes and a keen sense of timing, it had captured fish, crabs, and other aquatic creatures. Now, in the hushed moments of dawn, the Heron found a peaceful perch atop a sturdy branch. With one long, slender leg tucked neatly beneath its downy body, it closed its eyes once more, the remnants of the night’s hunting adventures etched in its memory.

With the wetlands serenading it with a symphony of chirping birds and rustling leaves, the young Yellow-Crowned Night Heron drifted back into a well-deserved slumber, dreaming of another night of stealth and survival in the enchanting world of the marsh. In the heart of the wetlands, where the rhythms of nature played out in perfect harmony, the sleeping Heron embodied the balance of life in the wild. It was a reminder that even in the most challenging hunts and the darkest of nights, there was always the promise of a peaceful and rejuvenating rest, ready to embrace the challenges of a new day when the sun dipped below the horizon once more." – RDA
